The Art of Doctor Gary Chambers

FARM LIFE. COUNTRY LIVING. NATURE. BEING CREATIVE. These things are embeded in my memory serve as a favorite subject.I STARTED PAINTING 70 YEARS AGO. I have never stopped painting. and being creative. It was Gods calling for me to be a physician .Mind you I did not like School!!GRRRRR. Twenty six years of schooling AND tRAINING , Then 35 years of orthopedic surgery practice in USAF stationed in England, then private practice in US. During all this time I did extensive travels; North America, Europe, and Africa . Wherever I went I studied nature, people of different cultures , animals , quaint villages castles and cathedrals of England and Europe collecting photos , all with intent of painting these wonderful subjects. During physician years I would buy paints , paint a MASTERPIECE...yuuch! Hang them on wall in office, often give them to a patient. After retirement I returned to intensive study of art. Yep ! seven more years of schooling -- all from a person that does not like school! I have continued art Studies with many nationally and internationally known artists. Recently I spent the summer studying in depth at OLD WORLD ART with Chris Di Domizio , Atlanta Georgia. For several years I have audited art courses at East Tennessee State University and Atlanta College Of Art., and Savannah college of art {Atlanta branch }. painting. . I have served as a medical missionary to several African countries. Kenya Tanzania and Zimbabwe Many safaris have opened the doors to a wide variety of very interesting subjects; African peoples , African animals and the fascinating geologic and natural wonders of Africa .My paintings are my original compositions. Not photo copies of other peoples work!!!An artist copies to learn then opens his mind and heart to express him(her)self. Despicable for those who don't!! .
